Eastern europe day 5

This is the Main Market Square. You will find may buildings of historical value in this square. Measuring 200m on each side, the square is the largest in europe. In this square we can find the Cloth Hall, the magnificent Virgin Mary Church and various beautiful palaces which were the residence of various members of the royalty in the past. These days, no one lives in these buildings anymore, they house various institutions of learning. Because there was no let up in the rain, our polish guide took us to a store that sold amber. The thing of importance for us in this place isn't the amber but the tiny screening room they had in their basement. We were treated to a short, approximately half hour documentary on the city and the making of amber. Amber is one of the products that Krakow is famous for. It is here that our city tour ended. After this we returned to the Sisters Restaurant for lunch. Later after lunch, during our free and easy time, we returned to the square to check out the Cloth Hall with all it's tiny shops selling souvenirs and local handmade crafts. After that lily, two other tour mates and I also returned to the amber shop because they wanted to buy some amber. Lily and I also paid 2 euros to enter the Virgin Mary Church and I paid an additional 2 to shoot photos. The church is really beautiful on the inside and it was well worth paying to get in and shoot. Will talk more about the church when I return. Next up the Salt Mine.
