ufotable released a CM announcing the Fate/Grand Order x Kara no Kyoukai collaboration today.  Man!!! Shiki looks sooooooo badass in this video. :)

Fate/Grand is a mobile game which isn't available in the Android Play Store for Singapore.  Although there are ways and means to get it to work on an Android phone which isn't tied to the Japan Play Store, my mobile phone won't run it properly so I've never played it.  From what I can tell, it seems that Shiki will be available as one of the servants in the Assassin class.

While waiting for the Niconico broadcast of Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] to begin, I fired up twitter so that I can take part in Fate/tweet night. :)   But it's still early so I decided to just catch up on anime news and Kalafina's news and look what Nakata Jouji tweeted about 3 or so hours ago. :)

Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin Extra Chorus Limited Edition Blu-ray unboxing

I'm going to have to speed through this and try and not be too verbose. It's been a while since I have been able leave work on time and I've spend most of the night just resting.  I would like to try and sleep by midnight because I have some sleep debt I must repay but I don't want to delay these unboxings too long because if I do... they will just not get done like a quite a few previous times... so I must be as quick as possible. :)

First up, photos of the Blu-ray boxset, with and without the plastic packaging and the slip of paper (which I just found out is called an OBI paper ring) round the slipcase.

      

I also shot a close up of the cover so that you can see that the of the movie and the graphic underneath is embossed.

Here are the photos of the contents of the boxset.

      

The 8 Panel 4 Tray DigiPak slips out easily probably because the cardboard that holds everything together is made from a nice glossy material.  Several sheets of advertising material have been packed into the case. Not that I'm complaining :) since one of the leaflets comes with reprints of the Fate/Stay Night and KnK artwork. :)

The limited edition comes with the Mirai Fukuin and Extra Chorus on a BD disc each.  The BD also comes with extras like the promotional videos etc.  Sadly, I haven't had time to watch the BDs yet... really v v v busy with work. :'(

The soundtrack CD contains tracks for both the main Mirai Fukuin movie as well as the approximately 30 minutes Extra Chorus.  The last 6 tracks on the CD belong to Extra Chorus.


  

The above are photos of the pamphlet containing the tracklist and information for the soundtrack and the Drama CD.  The pamphlet also opens up to reveal a printout of a Q&A between Kinoko Nasu, Takeshi Takeuchi and the fans.  If I remember correctly, these questions come from an open invite to the fans to write in with questions.

    

The above are photos of a few pages from the booklet.  It's printed on nice thick paper and contains a summary of the films, illustrations, artwork, character designs, storyboards etc.  And yes, unfortunately, that last photo is out of focus. :(

   

The Limited Edition also comes packed with an envelope containing 6 large postcards with really nice artwork printed on it. :)

Finally, I want to end off the unboxing with a few photos of this boxset placed next to one of the Limited Edition DVDs that was released for the first seven movies.

  

This isn't my favourite KnK movie.  My favourite is Paradox Sprial but I don't own that yet.  I only have the first 4 limited edition dvd boxsets.  Someday, when I have enough money, I will pick up the final 3 dvd sets.  Hopefully, I can still find them.

The packaging for Mirai Fukuin Extra Chorus kept very much in keeping with the past Limited Edition releases.  Even the contents aren't that different.  They each have a glossy pamphlet with the tracklist for the CDs, they also have a thin booklet and a black envelope with postcards.

Fans of the series should be quite pleased with this release.  I'm happy they kept the packaging consistent with the previous releases because it'll fit in nice and beautifully with the rest of my KnK boxsets.

But before I do that... here is the postcard from the KnK: Garan no Dou boxset.  This is my favourite character from KnK... surprise, surprise... it's isn't Shiki :) .  It is Aozaki Touko who is also voiced by one of my favourite seiyuu, Honda Takako who by the way has a small role in Majocco no Shimai Yoyo to Nene... I recognized her voice immediately when I saw the movie in the cinema about two weeks ago... yay!! :)

KnK Mirai Fukuin, Ieiri Leo "a boy" and an Odex rant

I'm pretty tired, so the unboxings will have to wait... hopefully this weekend.  But I'm super happy that they are here. :)  After getting that surprise free poster for Ieiri Leo's "chocolate" single... I was half hoping for a secret tokuten from ufotable for the Kara no Kyoukai set but no such luck. :(  Ah well... that's life. :)  Can't win them all. :)

Also.... I feel like ranting for a bit... while I am really happy that we are getting quite a few anime films recently, I can't help but be somewhat annoyed with Odex whom I think is the local distributor for these films.  They are responsible for bringing us KnK: Mirai Fukuin, Hunter x Hunter and Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene and I'm really grateful that these films are making it to our screens, especially the obscure titles like KnK and Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene... but seriously... I think, if Odex is the distributor, they are doing a piss poor job at marketing these films. Thing is... they don't seem to be doing ANYTHING at all. :(

The films just quietly show up on Cathay's page, then we hear nothing about them... not a squeak... no advertisement... no push... no nothing.  With Yoyo to Nene, it was worse.  Today is the scheduled opening day but the screen times weren't available till late this morning.  Yoyo to Nene is rated PG, so this film could have been marketed to the lucrative children's market... but I don't see any advertisement anywhere.  Even the AFA guys don't seem to have too much prior news of what's going on. Does anyone want to make money from these screenings at all?

Encore Films does a pretty good job just using FB alone, they have managed to garner quite a bit of interest from some of their foreign language offerings.  AFA does a good job using social media and their blogs etc.  But Odex does nothing. :(  It's frustrating for me.  I want to see more obscure titles come but if they are not selling tickets, will they continue to come? :(  Come on Odex, if you're the local distributor,... buck up... it isn't that hard to try and get some buzz going for these films. :(

Okay... rant over... I need to do work before I sleep... got to go. :)

Something real quick before I head to bed.

KnK Mirai Fukuin made it to a 2nd week of screenings.  The timing's aren't that great though, unfortunately for me.  There is no way that I can make any of the screenings during the week.  The only opening left for me is Saturday... dang it... I wish there was a evening screening.. now I'll need to try and shift things around. :(  I badly want to watch this again.

Still... it's good that KnK made it to a second week of screenings.  This isn't exactly a big title, nor is it one of the more popular ones in Singapore. Studio Ghibli's Kaze Tachinu will probably outsell this by a ton of times. Kaze Tachinu will screen in March in Singapore.  I already have a ton of people asking me to arrange something.... wow!!

Anyway, I'm really happy that KnK screened in Singapore and that I got to watch it on the big screen.  While I like Studio Ghibli's work, I actually like other stuff more than Ghibli... um... I actually like Kara no Kyoukai more than almost everything Ghibli has done, except for Nausicaa.  :P

Okay... off to bed.... if any of you haven't watched KnK yet... and you're a KnK fan... make sure that you try and go sometime soon.  I don't think it'll make it to a 3rd week of screenings.

Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin ~ Singapore screening - short comments

Gosh... it's sooooo late... I will need to sleep ASAP.  Still... I really want to write this because if I don't... I don't think I ever will.

Tonight, my friends and I went to watch the Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin movie at Cathay Cineleisure in Singapore.  Never in a million years did I expect this movie to screen in Singapore because all the previous ones didn't screen here.  Also, since there is a series of KnK films before Mirai Fukuin, the viewer will need to have a lot of prior information before viewing this film.  So, I really didn't expect it to screen but am super happy it did.

I loved it!!!! But I am bias of course. Just being able to watch this film on the big screen filled me with so much happiness, it would have to be an utterly horrible film of Starwars Episode 1 proportions for me to not like this film. :P

It stays true to some of the KnK conventions, as in they do play with time and chronology when they tell the story.  But it also differs from the main KnK films as in, this is not as dark, not as violent and not as bloody.  I don't see this as a bad thing or out of character.  After all, given that things didn't end too badly at the end of the 7th film, Murder Speculation (Part 2), or the 8th film, Epilogue, I think that it's actually quite fitting.

I would like to say more but I am afraid that I may accidentally go into spoiler territory.  So I'll kind of leave it as that. :)

I loved that I was able to listen to Kajiura Yuki's music and Kalafina singing the end themes of the film play loudly in a proper cinema.  This is my second time, my first being the 3rd Madoka movie, which I watched in Tokyo last year.  And even though it's my second time, I was no less thrilled. :)

After having watched the film, I now know why Kalafina's Alleluia was not a typical KnK end theme.  It is lighter and more hopeful and I think that it's appropriate for this film and also appropriate that Kajiura Yuki chose Keiko to lead most of this song.  This song needed the kind of sound and feel that Keiko brings to songs like Symphonia and Mune no Yukue.

One thing I didn't know till I watched Mirai Fukuin in the cinema was that dolce is an end theme song too.  Alleluia is the ending theme of Mirai Fukuin, dolce is the ending theme for Mirai Fukuin Extra Chorus.  I always thought that dolce was just the b-side single.

KnK fans who live in Singapore... go watch it.  I liked it lots. :)  A word of warning for those who have not watched the first 7 movies, there are a lot of references to events that happened in the first seven films and a lot of recurring characters and I think that those who have not watched the previous films, may not enjoy Mirai Fukuin.

Also, just a little bit about the experience and not the movie.  I really wish anime fans would stop talking throughout anime films.  Seriously... there are other people watching these anime films that are also huge fans of the anime who will know what is going on.  We don't need a running commentary or know just how much you know about the film.  This isn't the first time I've been to an anime screening in Singapore and have the experience a little ruined by other viewers who talk and talk or squeal and squeal throughout the film.  Cinema etiquette should not go down the drain just because it's an anime film. A little consideration... please... thanks!!

Lastly... I leave you with a few photos of the poster that all ticket holders at today's screening got. :)  One is a full length photo of the poster with Kalafina's Alleluia single next to it for comparison.  The other two photos are closeups of the credits in English... it gave me such a thrill to see Kajiura Yuki's name and Kalafina printed on the poster.  Yes... I know... cheap thrill... but still... I'm not a fan for nothing. :P

Cathay has updated their website with ticketing information. There will be four screenings in two of their theatres on the 16th. The movie will screen in one of their smaller halls.

There will also be a free poster with the purchase of tickets. It says while stocks last but since it is a small hall, I think there should be enough for most, if not all who purchse tickets... 多分ね。

I have purchased tickets for my friends and I. :) I hope we can go. l have not gotten permission to leave early yet. I will attempt to get permission on Monday. But even if I can't make it and have to give my ticket away...I will still be happy to buy this ticket because I think anime fans in Singapore need to show their support. So I am doing my part to show that I want more anime films to screen and more Japanese entertainment to come to Singapore. :)

Really looking forward to this screening.

Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin / Extra Chorus - will screen in Singapore :)

While hunting for information on possible screening dates for Studio Ghibli's Kaze no Tachinu, I chanced upon this page on Cathay Cinema's website.  Yes!!!!! Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin / Extra Chorus will be screening in Singapore.

I am sooooooo happy and excited I could cry.  NEVER in a MILLION years did I think that a KnK movie will screen in Singapore.  Evangelion 3 and Captain Harlock didn't even screen here.  And I think since Ponyo, no other Studio Ghibli film has screened in Singapore till they announced that Kaze no Tachinu will screen some time next year.

FINALLY.... this is really amazing news for a KnK fan and a fan of both Kajiura Yuki's music and her vocal project Kalafina.  I will not only be able to watch a KnK movie on the big screen, I would also be able to hear their music blasting over quality speakers in a nice cinema hall.... just like how it was when I watched Mahou Shoujo Madoka: The Rebellion in Japan.

Awesome news!!!!  Fans of KnK, Kajiura Yuki and Kalafina who live in Singapore... make sure you keep the 16th Jan 2014 open. :)

Since we are talking about KnK: Mirai Fukuin, I thought I would highlight something to those who don't visit ufotable's KnK website that often.  The cover art for the  DVD editions of KnK: Mirai Fukuin RE and KnK: Mirai Fukuin Extra Chorus RE have been released.
