A Glimpse into "Footprints of Change" 足迹 - The Character Video [Eng Subs]

I recently watched and subtitled the "Character Feature" video, one of the promotional clips for Footprints of Change, as preparation for starting the series. Some parts of the feature were particularly interesting, especially the sections set in the 50s and 90s. The characters in the 30s seem more typical of that period as in we've seen similar characters before in other series from that era. But I won't know for sure until I begin the series itself. That will be soon, since I’ve already purchased a subscription on iQiyi to watch both this drama and Encounter with You.

I was tempted to dive into some of the interesting details from the Character Feature, but I’ve decided to save those thoughts for a full review or commentary after finishing the series. For now, I’ll just share a theory. I think the creators may have chosen a very deliberate way of presenting their themes—subtle rather than heavy-handed. This impression comes from one particular scene set in the 50s and another set in the 90s, though I’ll need to watch the whole series before I can say whether my “thesis” holds up.

Meanwhile, here is the video of the Character Feature.

I hope you enjoyed the video and I hope I enjoy the series too. 🙂

If you're curious about the rest of Tong Yao’s work, I'm creating a complete guide to her filmography. It's my passion project filled with my personal reviews, character deep-dives, and links to detailed posts like this one and more. It’s a work in progress, but I invite you to take a look: Tong Yao Film & TV Guide for Fans.
