I'm writing a quick post to update the status of the iQiyi series, 《隐秘的对决》, from "unconfirmed" to "confirmed."
Although I haven't seen an official confirmation from iQiyi on Weibo or found the original source of the promotional image, I can now confidently confirm the series is happening. The key piece of evidence is a composite image posted by Tong Yao's management company on their Weibo account to celebrate her birthday on August 11th. Yes, I should have updated the blog earlier, but I've been busy with work, my studies, and my new photo blog. 😅
Anyway, I digress. This composite photo is exciting because it's the first official confirmation of the series that Tong Yao and Pan Yueming were filming in Sichuan, which I wrote about a few weeks back. Now, we just have to wait for more official announcements and, of course, the official English title.
Another point of interest is that the picture also includes a photo of Tong Yao from Ball Lightning. While we already knew that series was confirmed—and Tong Yao herself recently mentioned it's targeting a 2025 release—this is a rare glimpse of her character's design.
