AMENDED 6th Nov
The official Weibo account for Si Xi has announced that the series is slated to begin airing on November 7th. The various stars of the series have also shared new promo photos and accompanying messages in support of the release.
A new trailer, promotional clips and more promotional images have also been released. As usual, my personal interest in this project is for Tong Yao, but the overall cast is exceptionally strong and contains many familiar faces that I enjoy watching too. We have a lineup of respected veterans and two award-winning actresses, Tong Yao and Jiang Xin, in the lead roles. Younger viewers will also be happy to see Justin Huang among the main cast.
The trailer looks promising, suggesting a well-paced family drama filled with a rich mix of emotions. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Tong Yao and Jiang Xin working closely together again. I thought they had great chemistry in Three Bosom Girls.
I’m still not sure what the official English title for the series is yet,
since most of the promotional materials still refer to it simply as
Si Xi. The official WeTV English
YouTube channel currently lists the playlist under “A Mothers’ War with
Non-Stop Drama!”, which suggests that A Mothers' War might be the intended
title. But these things often change right up until release, so for now, I’ll
stick with Si Xi.
AMEND 6th Nov - Well, it seems like the official English title is Those Days after all. Because after I wrote and published this post, they took down that video from the WeTV YouTube Channel BUT the Tencent YouTube Channel's trailer labeled the trailer "《四喜 Those days》and the playlist also uses this title so and I changed the link of the YouTube video above to the Tencent one and I think this should be accurate.
Since the trailer is available on WeTV English with subtitles, it looks like an international release is confirmed which is great news for overseas fans.
Alrighty, I'll keep it short for now because I'm quite busy and I am still working on my analysis/commentary of Footprints of Change during my spare time. And I still have to write up something for Encounter with You.
If you're curious about the rest of Tong Yao’s work, I'm creating a complete guide to her filmography. It's my passion project filled with my personal reviews, character deep-dives, and links to detailed posts like this one and more. It’s a work in progress, but I invite you to take a look: Tong Yao Film & TV Guide for Fans.
