After our visit to the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, we climbed back on the bus to take a short ride to Old Town to check out the Royal Castle and other historical buildings in the vicinity. Old Town was completely destroyed during WWII. It was carefully and meticulously reconstructed after the war in 1944 and was only completed in 1962. It's a really beautiful place and the reconstruction is simply amazing. We lucked out this time round too. There was a cool display of painted bears from all over the world. It's here as part of some UNICEF charity event. After they've been displayed for a while they will be auctioned off and the money will go in aid of small children. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a bear from Singapore. I don't think Singapore participated in this event. The other thing that was kinda cool was that today is Corpus Christi Day. It's a huge holiday in Poland and we were lucky enough to see the procession of Roman Catholic leaders, nuns and the Bishop. It was a really grand affair and the as the procession made it's way to the church, it was accompanied by melodious singing and music. It was v cool. :-)
