Kalafina - Hikari Furu - big cover art

I've finally feeling well enough to come online for a bit and am happy to see that CDJapan has updated their website with the larger versions of the covers of the upcoming Hikari Furu single release. :)

Here you go:

The covers are in this order.  The Blu-ray LE, the DVD LE, the RE and the Anime LE.  Click on each picture to enlarge them.

I really like all the photos and this is making my want to buy all versions of the Kalafina ones simply because they look so lovely in them... but that would be nuts.  :)  So... I'm still sticking to my Blu-ray LE and Anime LE order... but arrrrgghhhh... would so love to own the other two versions, especially the RE since that is the mid-shot of all three of them.... must resist..... :)

And yes, I know I keep posting the CDJapan links up... sorry for being such a bore... and you are welcome to use them or use any other website you prefer.  But, if you can afford it, please support not just Kalafina and Kajiura Yuki but also the industry.

As for me... now it's time to go to sleep again.... being sick is so not fun. :(  Oyasumi...

Kalafina - Hikari Furu - more promo photos

Very short post... sick today... on 2 day medical leave and the medication is making me drowsy... so need to sleep soon...

But here are some even cooler photos of the trio in their new image for the up coming Hikari Furu single release.

If you go to the mobile website version of their official website, you'll be able to see these mobile versions of the photos.  These are closer shots than the photos on the internet site and the profile photos are MCUs as opposed to MSs on the internet site.... so now you can get a closer look at their faces... cool!!! :)  Also, there is a new background image behind the information pages, this is also from the new image for Hikari Furu.

Here are the photos... and that's it for today. :)

Lastly, here are the CDJapan order links again for your convenience and also because I do believe in showing support if you can afford it.

.... k... time for bed... :)

Kalafina website - Hikari Furu covers

Kalafina's official website has changed their design again to reflect the upcoming October release of the Hikari Furu single.  The new design features small tiny pictures of the covers for the 4 different editions of the single.

Hikari Furu [w/ DVD, Limited Edition / Type-A]

The overall photo that they used as the background will give one an idea of what the covers' general feel will be like and even though they are kind of small, all the covers do look like they could be quite nice.  This time they seem to be going for a simpler look.  The trio's attire isn't quite as fancy or complex as their previous image.  The background also seems to be dominated by a dark blue gradient with a sprinkle of white on the backdrop and a splash of white light on the ground.  I like this loads. :)

The accompanying small video clip in the corner is the Mahou Shoujo Madoka trailer with Magia as the background music.

Looks like the Anime Edition will really feature just a simple picture of Akemi Homura.  I thought it would be fancier but guess it'll just be that.  It doesn't matter though.  I will still get the Anime Edition as it's the only one of the editions to contain 6 music tracks.

1. ひかりふる (Hikari Furu)
2. 未来 (Mirai)
3. Magia [quattro]
4. ひかりふる (HIkari Furu instrumental)
5. 未来 (Mirai instrumental)
6. Magia [quattro] (instrumental)

The Anime Edition will not only have Hikari Furu, the B-side song Mirai and the Magia quattro re-mix, it'll aslo have the instrumental versions of all 3 songs.  That in itself makes it worth getting for me.  I have already ordered the Anime Edition and the Limited Edition with the blu-ray. :)

Alrighty... off to bed for now... long week ahead at work and I will still need to try that hard drive up and running... I will try and do the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Key Animation un-boxings by the end of the week, hopefully in the second half of the week actually.  And maybe just talk a teeny bit about the J-Live (Weaver / Flumpool) Live which I attended last week.

For now... oyasumi. :)

Ohhhhh... quick re-edit... I decided to check out the Kalafina SME page before I shut-down and I found these. :)  Nice. :)

Looks like this will be like their previous two singles release where each single will feature a solo photo of one of the vocalists. And if they do what they've been doing previously, I'll probably end up getting Hikaru again in the blu-ray edition which is a bit of a bummer for me since I rather get Keiko or Wakana after getting Hikaru in Moonfesta and To the Beginning. K... now... it's really oyasumi. :)

Sword Art Online vol.4 comes w/ Kajiura Yuki's OST :)

Every time they announce a new Sword Art Online dvd/blu-ray release at CDJapan, I will check the description to see if Kajiura Yuki's OST will be included in the release.  So far it's been Drama CDs till vol.4.   The Vol.4 release includes Kajiura Yuki's OST vol.1 which means that there will probably be at the very least a vol.2. :)

Here is the direct product page from CDJapan... click me.

Yay for more Kajiura Yuki releases but sigh.... bundled with the dvd/blu-ray release.... right now, I'm feeling a little broke from my 3 trips to Japan, my 1 trip to Malaysia and all the Kajiura Yuki, Kalafina and Japanese music concerts I have been going to. :p  So now... I have to be a bit pickier as I save up more money to try and go to Japan again next year. :)

I've not been keeping up with SAO... I've watched the first few eps and quite enjoyed it but work has been busy and this past week was tough.  For some reason, I was feeling really, really tired this week and it has made me edgy and impatient. :(  So.... this weekend, I hope to take it slow... do some homework, go for class, have a quiet dinner with some close friends on Sunday, sleep early, turn on the computer less.... that kind of thing. :)

As for this SAO release.... hmmmm.... I don't think I'll be getting the full set, if I get it at all... maybe I'll wait a year or two before I pick it up if there are discounts and such. :)

K... time to go... off to try and do my homework. :)

6th AGC in Guangzhou postponed

I got this info off Kalafina's official twitter account and website. As far as I can make out.... it looks like the AGC has been postponed... probably indefinitely like Anisama Shanghai. I need to put a disclaimer here cuz my Japanese is still very weak so I could have read the exact details wrong. Also, I am writing this on my mobile phone which makes it troublesome to do internet research. But most importantly, I am v tired and I want to write this quickly so that I can go to bed... gomen...

Sadly, like I feared would happen after the indefinite postponement of Anisama Shanghai, the AGC in Guangzhou has also fallen victim to the ongoing unrest in China. :-(

While it seems to have calmed down a lot, the situation is still quite volatile and in the interest of safety, Kalafina will not be going to Guangzhou in October. This is most unfortunate for Mainland Chinese fans and I am sure Kalafina is disappointed too. :(

That's it from me for now..... oyasumi... zzzz

Anisama Shanghai 2012 postponed indefinitely

link
Japanator

Hmmm.... looks like Anisama Shanghai 2012 will be postponed indefinitely. :(  Anisama was set to take place on the 23rd October but due to the current anti-Japan sentiment in several cities in China, the organisers have decided to cancel the concert.  :(

I'm thinking that the likelihood of the 6th AGC (穂港澳ACG動漫游戯展) being cancelled in Guangzhou is looking very likely especially since that is supposed to take place from the 30th Sept to the 4th Oct.  If that happens, it'll mean that Kalafina won't be going to China. :(  Which would really suck for both Kalafina and Chinese fans. :(

19th Sept:
Anti-Japan protest seem to have eased off.  Good!!
channelnewasia link
Let's hope they don't flare up again.  But seriously, China and Japan really need to try and settle this thing.  I know it's not a simple matter and it's not helped by ultra nationalists from both countries, Japan's strange decision to buy the islands (why they thought this would settle the issue is completely beyond me), a long and bitter history behind those islands and a whole lot of pride at stake... but if they don't settle this, some day it may not simply be about burning cars and factories.  :(

J-Live Vol.2 - weaver and flumpool part 2

Oh wow... I didn't know what to expect but the concert was incredible.... I like Weaver but Flumpool was really awesome!!!! I think its mostly because Flumpool plays my kind of music!!!

Now I don't mind if Kalafina or FictionJunction sing at Scape.... I like Scape much more than Expo and Suntec.

I am so happy I went for this concert.

J-Live 2 - flumpool & weaver

Yay!!!! Concert today!!! :)

Here's me doing my best to convince concert organizers to bring in more Japanese bands, vocal units etc..... maybe someday I will get my wish for a one-man Kalafina and Kajiura Yuki Live at the Esplanade. :)

K... going to go into hibernation mode now..... so tired from trying to fix my hard drive.... zzzz...

Kalafina"s Hikari Furu & Mahou Shoujo Madoka

We've got more news coming out from via Kalafina's staff twitter & official website, as well as Sony Music Japan's Kalafina webpages regarding the October release of Kalafina's newest single "Hikari Furu".

It looks like this time, we'll be getting stickers with the CD+DVD Limited Edition as well as the CD+Blu-ray Limited Edition.  Stickers for these two versions of the single will not be the same.  As far as I can tell, the Regular Edition will not come with a sticker.  The CD+DVD LE, the CD+Blur-ray LE and the RE will come with a postcard for those who purchase the single to participate in a lottery for a special event or for goods.  They didn't specify what event or what goods.   I'm not entirely sure I understood it correctly but I think the sticker is going to be an illustration from the anime.

The Anime Limited Edition will be a digipack with an illustration from the anime.  It'll also be packed with a postcard application to take part in a lottery to win a Hikari Furu Precious Memories Kalafina card.  The announce came with an attached sample illustration and it has 3 of the magical girls dressed in one of Kalafina's concert attire.

Attached to the announce was a picture of Akemi Homura and it comes with this caption, "期間生産限定盤ジャケットイラスト".  I'm think that this is the illustration for the Anime LE jacket.  Hmmmm.... some how I don't think this is the final version.  But then again, I could be wrong since the picture of the cover for the anime version of Claris' single looks like this picture, just with Madoka.

First Press releases both from online sources will also get another double-sided jacket.  This double-sided jacket will have a picture of from the Mahou Shoujo Madoka movie on one side and a picture of Kalafina on the other side.  I'm not sure if CDJapan will be giving this out as a freebie because as usually, it isn't listed as one of the online sites involved in the promotion.

Those who purchase from brick and mortar stores in Japan can get different 2-pack sets of postcards, one will be a Mahou Shoujo Madoka film version postcard and the other will be a postcard of Kalafina.  There are all together 5 different versions and which version one gets will depend on which brick & mortar one makes the purchase from.

The official website for Mahou Shoujo Madoka also made several announces on their website and via twitter recently.  There are more pre-sale announcemts and the specially designed tickets that come with them etc.

The anime will also be featured on the cover of the October issue of the Newtype magazine.  I'm tempted to get this... hmmmm.... :)

There will also be a campaign held at Namja Town in Ikebukuro.  I think there will be some Mahou Shoujo Madoka inspired desserts, if I'm not wrong.

The website also announced today that they have released the 2nd theatrical trailer for the movie. :)  I was lucky enough to see the first one in the theatre during the Afterschool Midnighters screening in Japan late last month.  It was so cool!!! :)

BUT  the news that makes me the happiest is this.  This film versions of this anime will also be getting a theatrical release outside of Japan.  They announced on the 13th Sept, that the anime will screen in 8 countries and 18 cities from October to December and one of the countries mentioned is SINGAPORE!!!!! Yay!!!!!  I'm so going to watch this movie. :)

Lastly, if anyone needs the pre-order links for Kalafina's Hikari Furu cds again... there they are...

K... time to sleep.... I'm actually v tired, we had a massive short circuit last night and it destroyed one of my hard drives.  I spent the whole night trying to get it back up... unsucessfully... so I'm not in the best of moods cuz I'm both tired and grumpy about the whole thing. :(  The Key Animation Note reviews will have to wait for another day when I feel that I can deal. :) good night. :)

Kajiura Yuki Live Vol.9 - concert goods part 3

Looks like this series will only be a 3 parter and will not require a 4th part.  I returned home relatively early today and am a little rested.  I spent some time shooting photos of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Key Animation Note Vol.5.  I would like to do the Vol.4 and Vol.5 un-boxings soon.  The Vol.4 unboxing is really long overdue.

Anyway... this should be a relatively picture heavy post since I don't think I really have that much to say for a change. :)

I usually only get the t-shirts and the pamphlets at the concerts but on this occasion, because I didn't have tickets for Day 2 and 3, I decided to buy something else on impulse.  This time, I bought the pouch with the Kajiura Yuki candy.  This isn't the first time a pouch with candy has been produced, if I'm not wrong.  I remember it at the Spring 2012 Live, I think.  I didn't buy it then but did see someone near me open his.  At that point in time, I remembered thinking.... hmmmmm.... that's a nice pouch... maybe I should have bought that too.  So when the pouch made another appearance at the Vol.9 Live, I decided to buy it too and I picked maroon, one of my favourite colours. :)

Here are the photos of the pouch and the pieces of candy contained inside.  You'll get 6 in one pouch but there are only 5 in the photos because I ate one. :D

I had to flip the following photo because when I shot it, I forgot to flip the piece of candy to the correct side so that the pattern on the piece of candy forms the Kajiura Yuki / FictionJunction logo.... opps. :p

I also asked Itsuko, who asked Megumi, to help me buy one of the FictionJunction Club exclusives since I'm not an FJC member. Thank you Megumi-san!! :) This is vol.2 of the FJ Press.  The first volime was printed ages ago and I think it's available on the Spacecraft webstore for FJC members.

I think they called this publication the "FJ Press" because like the "Kalafina Paper", this doesn't have staples to hold the sheets together, a little like a newspaper.

This is not a bad release.  Lots of photos and text and a pretty long pin-up poster of FictionJunction.  Nice but this is nowhere as nice as the pamphlet of course. :)  Still, this cost only 700yen compared to the pamphlet which cost 3800yen, if I remember correctly.

Here are the photos.

There is a little section in this publication regarding the YK candy.  It's made the traditional way by a shop with quite a bit of history, if I read the Japanese correct.  Kind of cool.  The candy itself is alright but I'm not the best person to ask regarding the quality of this type of candy since I don't really like hard candy. :)

Finally... before I sign off to go to bed...

Yup... this is the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Key Animation Note Vol.5... another quality release from Shaft. :)

Hopefully, I will get to this and Vol.4 tomorrow night or at the very least by the end of the week... but my Thursday and Friday nights are taken... so we'll see. :)

Please excuse any spelling and grammatical errors, if there are any... I always have to check it a few times... and now... I just would like to go to bed... will fix this and the previous YK post below tomorrow night.  Oyasumi. :)

Kalafina in Guangzhou, China

Good news for Mainland Chinese fans of Kalafina and Kajiura Yuki.  Kalafina's official blog just announced via tweeter about 2 hours ago that Kalafina will be attending the 6th ACG Animation and Game Show ( 穂港澳ACG動漫游戯展 - btw, I'm not sure what the official English name of the Exhibition is.)  The ACG is set to take place from the 30th Sept to the 4th Oct.

This is really cool news for Mainland Chinese fans.  There will be a mini Kalafina LIVE on the 3rd and 4th October and an autograph session on the 4th.  And get this, there will also be a separate "one man" Live on the 5th Oct in Guangzhou too.

Gosh... I'm so jealous!!!!  I wish we could get a "one man" Live in Singapore too.  I think my biggest dream is to see both a Kalafina and Kajiura Yuki Live at the Esplanade in Singapore.  No other location in Singapore can do them justice.

Ahhhhh..... enjoy yourselves Mainland Chinese fans. :)  Let's hope that politics doesn't get in the way again.

cheers :)

(announce screen capture is from SME's website)

Kajiura Yuki Live Vol.9 - concert goods part 2

This is part 2 of a series of posts devoted to the concert goods that I purchased at the Kajiura Yuki Live Vol.9 Day 1 concert.

Today's post is devoted to the concert pamphlet.  As is often the case with recent Kajiura Yuki / FictionJunction and Kalafina Lives, these concert pamphlets do not qualify as pamphlets in the strictest sense.  This time we have another very nice release to add to a fan's collection but because it is a rather nice release, the price tag on this collectible also reflects the quality of this release.

This concert pamphlet serves as the pamphet for all 3 days of the Yuki Kajiura Live Vol.9 3 Days Special and amazing + one day series of concerts that began on the weekend of the 31st Aug and ended it's run last night on the 9th Sept.  And yes, that is quite a mouthful for the title of this series of concerts but I kind of like it.  It is charmingly Japanese. :)

This is another hardcover release and has the same dimensions as the Yuki Kajiura Live vol8 Spring 2012 concert pamphlet.  (here is the link to my review of that release - click me)  The pamphlet has 64 pages of a mix of text and photos.  The photos are a mix of b&w and colour.  I didn't count the number of photos but it feels like there are more photos in this release when compared to the Spring 2012 release, although the Spring 2012 release has more pages than Vol.9 Live release.

The Vol.9 Live pamphlet has a nice white dust jacket which is slightly glossy and smooth.  It's good quality paper and the graphics are printed in matte silver.  The dust jacket has little die-cut windows which reveal the design of the hardcover underneath.  It's really very nice.

The hard board of the hardcover of this book is wrapped with what I think is canvas and it has a nice fine texture to it.  The three graphical birds in the centre have an additional glossy surface applied to them.  Graphics is printed in what I think I would describe as really matte gold.  The binding is the standard hardcover book binding

This particular release has more photos of FictionJunction as a group.  In the Spring 2012 release, the photos of FJ were all individual photos and the only time they appeared as a group was in the photos of them when there were performing on stage.  In this release, they are several 2 page spreads taken from photos specifically shot in a a photo shoot.  The photos of FJ, both the 2 page spreads and the individual photos are all very nice and should please any fan.

Kajiura Yuki writes the foreword in this release, just like she did in the Spring 2012.  In the foreword for the Spring 2012 pamphlet, her name was printed in regular font at the end of the foreword.  In this release, her signature is printed above her name and she also signs off Kajiura Yuki and family.  I thought this was kind of nice as it gave the foreword a personal touch of sorts.

Kajiura Yuki's interview is quite nice and lengthy in the Vol.9 release.  She gets 9 pages.  Her interview in the Spring 2012 release in comparison was only 5 pages long.  The utahimes, starting with Kaori and followed by Keiko, Wakana and Yuriko Kaida get a single head shot to accompany 3 pages of interview each.  There are also color photos of each of Kajiura Yuki and each of the utahimes both at the studio shoot as well as when they are on stage.  The Front Band members are also interviewed and introduced in a two page spread, just like the Spring 2012 release.

In the Spring 2012 release, the guest stars were also interviewed and they received a few pages each but in vol.9 Live release, they are only introduced briefly in a two page spread.

Here are the photos of several sample pages from the pamphlet.

I really believe that Kajiura Yuki loves books.  It's really evident in these hardcover releases and even more so in this Vol.9 release.  This is the first time I've noticed that Kajiura Yuki used this logo on any of the concert pamphlet releases.

Usually we'll get this logo and it'll either have FictionJunction or Yuki Kajiura printed underneath it....

... but, this logo of a tree on a book and the text "YUKI's BOOKS" is new.  I like it!!!!  I love books.  I have so many, my mum is constantly begging me to stop buying.  I grew up reading and almost always carry a book in my bag no matter where I go.  I love the smell of books and paper and I really, really like what Kajiura Yuki has been doing with her concert pamphlets.  These aren't your typical concert pamphlets.  A lot of thought went into its design and a lot of love went into the binding of these pamphlets.  Very old school stuff.  I loved the Spring 2012 release with it's felt fabric binding.  I love this Vol.9 Live release just as much.

Kajiura Yuki seems to love these traditional art forms.  She utilises a lot of old Europe in her work.  It's not just evident in her European (amongst other regions) world music influences, it's not just evident in Kalafina's image, it's also evident in the design of these lovely concert pamphlet releases, it's also evident in her new logo and it's also evident in the art that is used for these pamphets.

In my opinion, these concert pamphlets are worth every penny.  They aren't as cheap as your usual concert pamphlet releases but the amount of thought, love and tradition then went into these releases make them worth every penny.  I obviously love them since I actually devoted so much time tallking about them. :) Here's hoping that Kajiura Yuki will continue to produce concert pamphlets that are of as high a quality as her music. :)  Keep them coming Kajiura-san!!!!  While you will probably never read this... as always, thanks for the music and thanks for these lovely concert pamphets. :)

If I get back early enough tomorrow and if I'm not too tired, I will try and do part 3 of this series.  This time, I hope to do a little post on Kajiura Yuki candy. :)

Now it's time for me to go to bed... will need it because tomorrow, I will need to concentrate very hard at work... tomorrow I roto hair. :) Oyasumi. :)

p.s. there will probably be spelling and grammatical errors which I'm always blind to one first few readings... will read through it again later today and fix as many of these errors as possible... for now tho' it's bed time... good night. :)
