Maya - Dragon complete - sorta

Well, I finally finished the dragon modelling and animation project. I know it could be better but I really had very little time to work on it due to work commitments etc. =(

Given that I only seriously put in a couple of hours effort on Sunday night and LOTS of effort on Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon, I guess I should be glad it looks semi-decent although far from great.

Anyway, here it is. =)

1. textured dragon
2. non-textured dragon
3. LINK to animation if you wish to download instead of stream (you may have to press play a second time as the video doesn't seem to want to load fully on first play... at least it won't do it for me)

Maya - Dragon Head

I've started work on my second assignment. Got lots to do before I hand it in on Wednesday. Gotta work rather hard at this to get it in on time.

Anyway, have finished my dragon's head. Have to work on the body and the wings etc, than landscape then animate.... wah. =)

Well, for now it's good night.

Maya - terrain

We learnt texturing and creating terrain and skies today in class. It was fun. Brought what I was messing with in class to put up in the blog. The second pix is through the pespective view and so the environment sky thing won't show up. The first is the final with the environment sky thing. Kinda cool yah? =)

(btw, in case you didn't know, you can click on each pix to get the full size version.)

Maya - New Town

I removed several of the street lamps and turned the intensity down. I think overall it looks so much better already.

This will be it for tonight form me. Smashed... will work on trying to light it better and maybe add a few cartoony trees tomorrow night and then will have to begin on assignment 2 before I run out of time again.

Nite nite. =)

Maya - town animation

I just signed up for a youtube account so have edited this post to include the video.

If you want to download it instead of watching the stream, here it is. The link to the 3 second animation that I handed in today.

Please right-click me and "save as". Thanks

Maya - town complete

So I just barely got assignment one completed on time this morning. It's not exactly the way I want it but this morning I was more concern with just getting it ready to be handed in.

I'm thinking of messing with it a bit more cuz I think I made the streetlights too bright and I would like to attempt to do some flicking light thing with the railway crossing, as well as place car headlights etc. Still think I should try to place trees in there too.

Going to place some pictures for viewing. Will place a link to download the animation later.

Pix 1 - town complete

Pix 2 - church (with lights)

Pix 3 - church (no lights)

Pix 4 - car (not my favourite part of my town but it was one of the things I modelled early on and I think the crudeness of it kind of makes that obvious.

The church and the car's just for you GS. =)

Maya - town continued

Have begun detailing and applying colour to my town. Still have to finish detailing a few buildings, the road and model the railway crossing. And have to remember to applying colour to the car and the train. Gosh, have a lot to do cuz I still have to do cameras, lights and animation.

Anyway, it's off to bed.... full day of work tomorrow. =( Hopefully it won't be a long day.

cheers

Maya - town

Right, time to go to bed. So much to do before I have to hand my first assignment in on Wednesday. The bell in the church tower took a little longer than I thought it'll take and it's still not as nice as I would like it to be. =(

Right now I think I've more or less laid out my town but I still have to detail the buildings and assignment materials to all the buildings, the cars and the train. I would like to place some tress in the scene too but am not sure if I'll have the time for that.

Hmmmm... still have to animate the cars, the train, set up the camera and place the lights. Yikes.... god I sure hope I can get out of work early tomorrow and Tuesday.

Stress.... but fun. =)

cheers

Maya - train

Gosh, took me several hours just to make the train engine. The tutorial only gave me the basic instructions to get started but I had to figure out how to detail it myself. And the "extrude face" thing gave me so much problems till I figured out that I needed to turn "p faces together" on if I wanted the selected faces of the polygon to move as a whole and not give me this rib cage looking effect. Well, at least it looks semi decent. Right, got to go make cargo now. =)

Maya Maya Maya

Recently I've been trying to learn 3d animation and the software I've decided to pick up is Maya. I'm much too obsess with it currently to wax lyrical about too much else. =)

Anyway, here's my first assignment. It's still a work in progress and really primitive looking. But for my buddies who care, here.... quit bugging me to see what I'm doing. =)

Somewhere in my very colourful looking =D town is a car and the beginnings of a train.
