The World of Miyazaki ~ GV to screen Ghibli films in SG!!

This is incredible news. Two of my friends texted me separately to let me know that Golden Village will be holding a mini Studio Ghibli film festival. They will be screening a host of Miyazaki's most loved works in March. This will then lead up to the opening of Kaze Tachinu on the 20th Mar.

I am on the train. After i reach home and have had dinner i will amend this post with links and a better screen cap.

Lupin the 3rd vs Conan / Tiger & Bunny: The Rising will screen in Singapore :)

A friend of a friend sent this photo to her and she sent it to me with permission to use it on the blog. :)

This is a bit better from Cathay, some actual advertisement way before the planned screenings of these movies.  I still am some what annoyed that they dropped Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin and Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene in our laps with barely a ripple in the water.  It's a real pity too because I really think Yoyo to Nene deserves better than that.  It really was a very enjoyable movie but it looks like most people and anime fans in Singapore will not be seeing this on the big screen. :(

The next pair of anime films set to screen in Singapore shouldn't have too many problems getting anime fans in the cinema though.  These are anime films from popular series.

I'm likely to go to the Lupin the 3rd vs Conan movie because I like Lupin. :)  I am still thinking of Hunter x Hunter this weekend but I'm kinda busy lately and feeling quite tired everyday and it might be hard for me to squeeze the movie in this week. :(  I don't know anything about Tiger and Bunny... maybe it's time to check it out. :)

Anyway... here are the trailers :)

I'm not really surpised that Lupin III vs Conan is coming because they tagged that trailer on at the end of the Conan movie last year. :)  Tiger and Bunny's previous movie also screening last year.  I think it did decently well.

It's good too that they are not opening the next pair of movies on the same day.  I thought this was a really bad idea.  If it wasn't for the copyright issues with Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions, KnK: Mirai Fukuin would have had to compete with another anime film for a share of the audience.  This is probably one of the reasons Yoyo to Nene wasn't able to pull in a larger share of the anime film watching audience.  Hunter x Hunter is a much bigger franchise than Yoyo to Nene.  Tiger & Bunny will have to compete with Kaze Tachinu, Ghibli's latest offering though.

It doesn't help that I actually think that anime fans in Singapore aren't really that hardcore.  They mostly just go for the famous and big titles and more obscure titles they'll just download it and watch it for "free".  Which is kinda sad, IMO.  A lot of work goes into the making of any film and as someone who works in the industry, I rather people watch our work in the theatres or at the very least purchase them on home video.  Cinema tickets in Singapore aren't even exorbitantly expensive.  These general screenings are screening for SGD13 (I think) on the weekend. Most films in Tokyo will screen at 1500 to 1800 yen.  Yup... not cheap at all.  Come on all anime fans!!!  If we want more anime to screen on Singapore screens, stuff like AnoHana, Nanoha, Pyscho-pass etc... it's time to show a clear signal to the local distributors, the Japanese distributors, the Japanese studios etc that WE LOVE anime!! :)

K... time to go... I have to rush now... got to go to work. :)

Kalafina ~ Magia "Osaka" t-shirt - a belated birthday gift :)

I have already shot photos of the awesome Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica ~ Rebellion BD LE boxset   (whoops sorry, in my tiredness, I got it wrong, the Madoka Magica ~ Rebellion BD/DVD have not been released yet, I meant the Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin BD LE set .... gomen :P ) and Ieiri Leo's "a boy" LE album but the unboxings will have to wait... it's been a busy weekend and today was a pretty long day and while I'm not quite ready to go to bed, I don't feel like doing the unboxings because they will take an hour or two to do.... I don't think I can stay awake that long... :(

So... I'll just do this...

Look, look!!!!  I got this from a good friend who gave this to me as a rather belated birthday gift.  But I'm not complaining because this is nothing short of awesome!!.

The 3rd photo is a little soft. :(  But I'm too lazy to re-shoot it. :P

I wanted to go to this live, I almost did actually but I had just started a new job and I didn't think it would be right of me to go running off to Japan on a holiday.  When the "Magia" concert t-shirts went on sale online, I really wanted one but I hesitated and they were all gone before I knew it. :'(

This is a really awesome present because this isn't just the "Magia" live shirt, this is the "Osaka" version of the shirt and these you can only get if you went to the location of the live in Osaka or if you got it of an auction site.

This is a perfect present for a Kalafina fan who is also a t-shirt fiend. :)

Okay... now I'm going to answer a few emails etc... then go offline and crash out for the night. :)

Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene ~ SG screening

さすが ufotable!!! I just finished watching this film and it is really pretty good. The art is really pretty, the story is quite good and unusual, the pacing spot on. Really recommended...if only Singaporeans would watch some non-mainstream stuff sometimes.... This does not look like it will do well in the theatres in Singapore...sadly... :(

I hope more anime films come...not just the mainstream ones... I want titles that are similar to Yoyo to Nene to come too!!!

K...got to go...less i am accused of being anti social. :p

Rekishi Hiwa Historia OST 3 ~ streaming audio samples available

Oh.... I just saw this and since I am a huge Kajiura Yuki and Kalafina fan, this has got to go up on the page before I continue with my work. :P

I received a notification from HMV Japan on the 18th Feb to let me know that the Rekishi Hiwa Historia OST 3 album has been released.  It's an album I intend to purchase but have delayed ordering it because of Ieiri Leo's releases.  Because I knew about the release, I didn't go visit the HMV Japan page.

But just now, as I was going through some email before I start working on some Nuke stuff, on a whim, I decided to click on the link to check the page out... and what do you know... they have streaming audio samples for all tracks on the album.  AWESOME!!!

CLICK HERE if you wish to listen to the sample and purchase the album from HMV Japan.

CLICK HERE if you wish to purchase the album from CDJapan.

Okay... now I will go... definitely need to watch this tutorial before work on Friday... over and out. :)

KnK Mirai Fukuin, Ieiri Leo "a boy" and an Odex rant

I'm pretty tired, so the unboxings will have to wait... hopefully this weekend.  But I'm super happy that they are here. :)  After getting that surprise free poster for Ieiri Leo's "chocolate" single... I was half hoping for a secret tokuten from ufotable for the Kara no Kyoukai set but no such luck. :(  Ah well... that's life. :)  Can't win them all. :)

Also.... I feel like ranting for a bit... while I am really happy that we are getting quite a few anime films recently, I can't help but be somewhat annoyed with Odex whom I think is the local distributor for these films.  They are responsible for bringing us KnK: Mirai Fukuin, Hunter x Hunter and Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene and I'm really grateful that these films are making it to our screens, especially the obscure titles like KnK and Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene... but seriously... I think, if Odex is the distributor, they are doing a piss poor job at marketing these films. Thing is... they don't seem to be doing ANYTHING at all. :(

The films just quietly show up on Cathay's page, then we hear nothing about them... not a squeak... no advertisement... no push... no nothing.  With Yoyo to Nene, it was worse.  Today is the scheduled opening day but the screen times weren't available till late this morning.  Yoyo to Nene is rated PG, so this film could have been marketed to the lucrative children's market... but I don't see any advertisement anywhere.  Even the AFA guys don't seem to have too much prior news of what's going on. Does anyone want to make money from these screenings at all?

Encore Films does a pretty good job just using FB alone, they have managed to garner quite a bit of interest from some of their foreign language offerings.  AFA does a good job using social media and their blogs etc.  But Odex does nothing. :(  It's frustrating for me.  I want to see more obscure titles come but if they are not selling tickets, will they continue to come? :(  Come on Odex, if you're the local distributor,... buck up... it isn't that hard to try and get some buzz going for these films. :(

Okay... rant over... I need to do work before I sleep... got to go. :)

Ieiri Leo ~ Chocolate - unboxing

It's a little late but it's finally here... the unboxing of the Ieiri Leo single "Chocolate".  I'm glad I managed to get it out before her new album "a boy" ships in the next few days. :)

This single was released as 3 Limited Editions.  Each single contained the song "Chocolate' and it's instrumental version and a third track which was different in each version.  Type A and Type B consisted of a CD only while Type C contained an addition DVD with the music video for "Chocolate.  All three version contained a sticker with a message written by Ieiri and all came in a CD jewel case.  Type C's jewel case was placed in a special cardboard package.

Without further ado, let's put up the photos first.

Finally, this is the a photo of the poster one gets if you purchase all 3 versions of the single.  The CDJapan store said nothing about it but some of the other webstores did mention it.  So, I'm not sure if this poster is still available at CDJapan.

And yes, that is a Kalafina CD in the bottom left corner of that poster. :P  I don't have another Ieiri CD to hold the poster down, so I used the first CD within reach and it was Kalafina's Kimi no Gin no Niwa single. :)

I don't know what the size of the poster is.  I think it's a B2 size.

Also, did you notice the background that I used to shoot the CDs on?  Hahahaha... yeah, it's a Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica desk mat.  I decided not to use my boring white tiled floor for a change. :)

I like the song Chocolate.  It's quite sweet and, IMO, a departure from what she's released before.  While I do like her a lot, enough for me to replace almost all my Utada Hikaru and Angela Aki tracks in my player with her songs, I haven't reached the level of obsession where I will buy all versions of a release yet.  I'll only do that for Kajiura Yuki / FictionJunction and Kalafina right now. :)

The biggest and best reason to buy all three versions are the live tracks.  Ieiri is a very good live performer and I think Victor Entertainment knows it, hence, why they include a lot of her live recordings in her releases.  It's a good move because it's the biggest reason why my friend and I decided to buy all 3 versions.  If the release had the same tracks, we would not have bought all three versions.  I would not have bought the versions if they included things like different instrumental versions or different mixes.  I wanted the live tracks and they are not disappointing at all.

Ieiri's 2nd album will be released on the 19th Feb.  On the same day as the Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin BD / DVD releases.  I have Limited Editions pre-ordered and CDJapan is showing that they are "in stock".  I think they will ship in a day or two.  I will have them in hand by the end of the week or early next week and will do the unboxing after that.

I can't wait to get both releases. :)

Okay... that's it for now.  I would like to do some reading and then call it an earlier night than usual.  I have a feeling that this might be a long week. :)

Madoka Magica ~ twitter icons :)

source
While checking out the news on the official Madoka Magica website, I saw this. :)  On the 10th Feb, in celebration for surpassing 100,000 followers on their official twitter account, the website made available a set of super deformed twitter icons created by Aoki Ume.  This is a present for Madoka Magica fans and is a free download. :)

CLICK ME and click the big pink button (一括ダウンロード) at the bottom of the page to download the zip file. :)

Madoka Magica ~ First Part: Beginnings / Last Part: Eternal BD LE - freebie deskmat

Well... three posts in a row where I don't talk about Kajiura Yuki, FictionJunction, Kalafina or Madoka Magica... that just won't do!! :P

So to break that cycle, here's a little something before I post another Ieiri Leo post... most likely tomorrow. :)

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Movie) First Part: Beginnings (Hajimari no Monogatari) / Last Part: Eternal (Eien no Monogatari) / Animation

This was something I forgot to take a photo of when I did the unboxing of the BD Limited Edition set.  If you want to check out that unboxing post, CLICK ME.

The CDJapan tokuten for this set is an A3 desk mat which made me very happy. I really like these desk mats and I really like the Madoka Magika ones in particular.

Some of you may not know what a desk mat is.  I know I didn't too when I first saw them being offered on CDJapan's website, all I saw was an illustration which told me nothing.  I tried to look them up on the internet but in 2011 there were no images of the anime ones.  So I took a chance and bought my first Madoka Magica desk mat   I love it and it's currently on my desk at the office now. :)  The one I got was this:

It didn't help that CDJapan called them Desk Mattress then and I had no idea what the heck that was but I was obsessed with Madoka Magica then. :P

Here are the photos of the A3 size desk mat for this BD LE set. :)

I shot close ups of the desk mat to try and give you an idea what the material is.  This desk mat's front material is smoother than my first desk mat.  I should shoot photos of that desk mat when I'm at the office... although it's a little shabby right now.  I have been using it since 2011. :)

The back is a little bit rubbery(?).  I'm not sure if that's the right word for it but suffice to say, there is a texture on the back of the desk mat.  This is so that it won't slip around.

I put this tokuten back in the plastic sleeve it came in because I haven't decided where to use it yet. I already have two other desk mats, one of which I use on my other desk.  I may just use this on this desk.... and I really like this one too.

source
Maybe I'll get this too. :)  I like this because it has all the mahou shoujos and Ultimate Madoka.  There are other desk mats for Madoka Magica ~ Rebellion.  But I think this one is cooler.

Anyway, it's late, I need to take care of a few things and then go to bed. I've taken photos of all 3 versions of Ieiri Leo's single "Chocolate". If nothing crops up, I intend to do the unboxing tomorrow.  For now...  adiós. :)
